This strawberry vinaigrette is a delicious combination of sweet and tart all at the same time. It’s the perfect way to brighten up any meal, and it’s so flavorful that you’ll find yourself putting it on everything! Making homemade dressings is addicting! Once you taste their fresh flavor, you’ll have a hard time going back to store-bought. A few of the favorites that I make at home are this Greek dressing, this classic Caesar dressing, and the all-time family favorite… ranch dressing!
What is a Vinaigrette?
I LOVE a good vinaigrette! A vinaigrette is a sauce or dressing typically made of oil (and, surprise…vinegar!) with some other flavorings sprinkled in. You can make them sweet or tangy depending on the taste you are going for! The best part about them is that they can be fruity or savory and can go on just about anything. I love making dressings at home because I can add or take things away and make them the perfect fit for me! This vinaigrette tastes extra delicious because it combines the sweet flavor of strawberries with savory flavors like Dijon mustard and garlic. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to throw together, and it will last a couple of weeks! Your guests will love the bright flavor of this salad dressing. And don’t be worried about the vinegar as the main ingredient. Your favorite dressings like thousand island and Italian dressing all have vinegar in them too!
Ingredients in Strawberry Vinaigrette
These ingredients are super simple, and you can switch out ingredients to make this the perfect recipe for you. Try switching out the strawberries for some raspberries to change things up! Check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact measurements.
Strawberries: Fresh strawberries are always best! You can use frozen strawberries if you need to, but fresh strawberries will give your dressing the best flavor. Apple Cider Vinegar: If you don’t have this on hand, then you can use balsamic vinegar instead! Extra-virgin Olive Oil: This helps blend all of the flavors together!Dijon Mustard: You may not think mustard and strawberries would taste good, but just wait until you taste these flavors together! You can also use honey mustard instead! Garlic: Ramp up the umami (the kind of flavors that make your mouth water) in this dressing by adding garlic. It goes great with the sweetness of the strawberries.Granulated Sugar: If you have ripe strawberries and like a tart dressing, you can leave this out. If you are using frozen strawberries you should add sugar.Salt and Pepper: Add to taste or use my amounts if you aren’t sure.
How to Make Strawberry Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
This dressing is that easy! I mean… It’s only one step! It doesn’t get any simpler than that! You really can’t get this one wrong, and your family and friends will rave about how good this dressing is.
Change Out the Berries: If you aren’t a fan of strawberries (or you just want a few options!), go ahead and substitute the strawberries for some raspberries instead! Add Extra Sweetness: If you are using frozen strawberries, they aren’t going to be as sweet as fresh strawberries. You may want to add in a little bit more sugar to make sure this vinaigrette is as sweet as you like it! Add it to a Salad: A green salad is the most common way to use a vinaigrette. You MUST try it on this delicious strawberry salad or this berry feta chicken salad. It kicks any salad up a notch! Drizzle it on a Wrap: Lettuce wraps are my personal favorite because I can eat them with my hands! Which, let’s admit, we all love doing sometimes! I’ve even used this vinaigrette on a strawberry chicken salad wrap and it was amazing!Eat it with Fish: Do you enjoy lemon on your salmon? Then you’ll love this vinaigrette on top of a filet of salmon or tuna. Or halibut. Or mahi-mahi. Really this dressing is fit for any dish you can imagine putting it on!
Store in Refrigerator: Once you are finished whipping this recipe up, go ahead and store this dressing in an airtight container. Place it in the fridge, and it will last for about a week.
